Size: 35 residential units 70,000 SF
Completion: 1993
This project was developed as a 35-unit, acute care licensed facility for local citizens coping with HIV/AIDS. AIDS Housing of Washington (AHW) was the owner and developer of the property, with Betsy Lieberman as the agency’s Executive Director. This was the first project of its kind to be built in the U.S., which made it challenging to complete. There were over 45 funding sources, with over six of them public sources.
Maria Barrientos served as the Project Manager and provided a full range of services for AHW. She provided support for securing funds from public and private sources, managed the architect and contractor, and coordinated the design process and construction administration. Throughout, Maria worked in concert with AHW, city, county, state and federal government funding agencies, community groups, bankers and private contributors to bring this much-needed facility from concept to reality.
