The Louisa Hotel building was originally built in 1909 as a single room occupancy hotel. It is the only remaining building in the International District featuring the original wood-framed window bays that were once common to the era. On Christmas Eve 2013, a fire in the western portion of the building burned the roof and compromised the structure of this building.

barrientos RYAN developed to restore the building to full use as a mixture of residential units on the upper floors and retail at ground level. barrientos RYAN’s expertise for renovation and restoration of historical character buildings was an asset for this challenging project.
